MHA Moore and Smalley
After gaining a degree in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University, went into the profession, starting with shoe-box jobs and ending up in very large audits. Qualified as an FCA and specialised in Computer Auditing, primarily in the area of computer audit interrogation software to support the audit teams (e.g. CARS, ACL, IDEA), and also programming in dozens of computer languages. and ended up as Grant Thornton’s Regional Computer Audit Manager for the North of England in the late 80s.
Moved to Moore and Smalley and pursued IT consultancy and Sage support for a while before becoming involved in internal IT support and development. Responsible for building the firm’s IT infrastructure across 6 offices over the last 25 years, and in due course managing the IT budget. Designed and built an in-house document and email management system ten years ago which is still in daily use. Was Senior IT Manager and Data Protection Officer for a number of years, and am now Operations Director, getting involved with Finance, Data Control, and Property. Member of the ICAEW’s IT Faculty.
Currently involved with implementing a new UC/telephony system and developing the firm’s “Everything Everywhere” strategy.
